History
While history never appears on any college entrance testing, wisdom & virtue is at the top of CHEC's mind to develop in the short time we have our students. Each week in their history class that corresponds with the 4 cycles of CHEC (Ancient, Medieval, Early Modern and Modern), the class will explore the highlights of the era doing shorter unit studies on topics using living books.

Curriculum: Biblioplan - Early Modern

Experiment Based Science
Science at CHEC is designed to spark curiosity through engaging, hands-on experiments and interactive lessons that bring scientific concepts to life. Each week, students participate in exciting labs and activities that correspond with the science cycle they are studying, allowing them to explore the wonders of God's creation in a meaningful and memorable way. Through inquiry, observation, and discovery, students build a strong foundation in scientific thinking while developing a genuine love for learning. All science materials and lab supplies are included in tuition.

Electives
Art

A study done on Florida students that took in-school arts classes and/or private arts classes throughout their school career showed significantly higher scores on their college placement tests in the verbal and and increased scores on their math. Hundreds, if not thousands, of years of evidence support the link between participating in arts programs and higher academic achievement, deeper appreciation of life, greater capacity to empathize and problem solving abilities. Elementary students take an art class each week .
STEM

Students rotate through different STEM topics such as LEGO® Robotics, coding, animation, drones, circuitry and much more. Our hands-on tools make learning playful, engaging and relevant while developing students’ ability for critical thinking, communication and 21st century skills. Using the same programs and technology that are used in schools across the country give our students a competitive edge.
Math Games

This interactive math skills class is designed for Kindergarten through 5th grade students in our two-day program. Through hands-on games, puzzles, and collaborative activities, students strengthen core math skills such as number sense, logic, problem-solving, and strategic thinking in a fun, low-pressure environment. Activities are differentiated by age and ability to ensure all learners are appropriately challenged and supported, helping students build confidence in math while developing teamwork skills and a positive attitude toward learning.

Geography
Students study geography through games, map drawings, and songs to expand their understanding of God’s world and its many people and places. Understanding they are a small part of a much bigger picture teaches a deeper appreciation for His creation.

L.I.F.E in Theatre
Learning Intentional Fun Exercises
Theater has been a part of the education process for thousands of years. Participation in theater improves self esteem, teaches empathy and teamwork, increases academic motivation and performance and above all gives the students the chance to fail, get back up and try again in a safe environment. Our elementary students learn, study all aspects of stage production, costuming, lighting, sound and perform a full Christmas play in the fall session.
Memory Songs

Music is one of the most effective ways for children to learn and retain information, so we weave engaging songs throughout the school year to help students master foundational knowledge. Beginning in the early elementary years, students memorize key concepts such as the parts of speech, sentence structure, grammar rules, math facts, science facts, history timelines, geography, and more through fun, repetitive songs. A tradition at CHEC, you'll often hear students singing these memory songs in the hallways, during transitions, or even at home long after class has ended.
Chess

CHEC loves Chess. Whereas most schools with a chess program don't begin until 2nd or 3rd grade, we begin in 1st grade. Children are taught the history, basics and how to play a game without errors and as they improve they are instructed on strategy and algebraic notation. A pastime at CHEC, you will see CHEC kids playing chess together in STEM class, math games, open play days and other down times. Since the whole school learns how to play together there's never a shortage of other people to play with at any CHEC event.
Experiences
Field Trips
As part of the CHEC Experience program, elementary students participate in one field trip each semester. These hands-on experiences are designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, allowing students to explore new environments, connect classroom lessons to the real world, and engage in meaningful, experiential learning opportunities that support their academic and personal growth.
Class Trips
Starting in 5th grade, students at CHEC embark on overnight class trips as part of their CHEC Experiences program, marking an exciting milestone in their learning journey. These trips allow students to explore new environments, build independence, and strengthen relationships with their peers outside the classroom. Overnight trips in particular hold special value — they encourage teamwork, self-reliance, and confidence, while deepening students’ sense of community and curiosity about the world around them. Each trip becomes a meaningful extension of the classroom, blending adventure with personal growth.
School Experiences
At CHEC, we believe homeschool students deserve the full “school experience,” not just the academics. That’s why we intentionally create moments like Field Day, school picture day, Valentine exchanges, Christmas parties, and school dances—so students can build friendships, make memories, and feel part of something bigger. These events give our students the joy, connection, and childhood traditions they might otherwise miss, while still thriving in a homeschool lifestyle.
